Millie Marotta’s Animal Kingdom // Adult Colouring Book

I got this beautiful colouring book for my birthday. I had been wanting to try these colouring books out for a while, but I wasn’t too sure whether the calming/relaxing effects had been exaggerated. However, I was pleasantly surprised as I do find it very relaxing and enjoyed bringing the beautiful colourings inside to life.

I received the ‘animal kingdom’ version which I love because it has so many beautiful drawings inside. As you may know, there are many different versions of these kinds of books. I think this is lovely because you can pick up another book if you wish to after you have finished this one, and don’t have to worry about it being too similar.

Here is an example of one of the colourings I have started inside the book. I love the patterns you can create. I also like the fact that you don’t have a set pattern you have to stick to, so you can really have fun creating all kinds of different and unique colourings.
I use fine liners to colour the patterns in as I find it easier personally as some of the lines are fairly small when colouring them in.
I’m not the neatest of people either when it comes to anything arty – but I found this ok and I did enjoy using this book although I’m not particularly creative/arty.
Overall, I do think these books are a good distraction when you need some ‘you’ time. I would recommend them for anyone!

It also makes for a perfect print to decorate, I have it on my shelve above my blogging area so it has a double purpose. Although I bought it some time ago I just started colouring a week ago and I love it as much as I thought I would. Spending so much time on the computer at work and at home, blogging and on social media, it has been great to take a little break once in a while and let the calming effects take over and forget about deadlines and statistics and such.

I couldn't agree more! Ooh that's a good idea to use it as decoration – they are such beautiful books.
